Like I mentioned, I use a plugin to get rid of the halftone screen which does a surprisingly good job (here's a comparison between my scanner's descreening option and the plugin I use: ) With the smaller photos, could I simply scan them at a crazy high DPI and still have it print fairly well even at A2, or is the source image simply too small? I go through every single scan with the Sattva descreen plugin for Photoshop (which is absolutely awesome by the way!) to remove any moire and halftone patterns. Now my original intention was to scan these at a resolution where I can create my own posters (strictly for personal use) at A2 or even A1 size. (edit: The smaller photos are roughly 130 x 87mm / 5.12 x 3.43 inches)
SATTVA DESCREEN FULL
Obviously these are quite a bit smaller than the full page photos. Some of the photos take close to the full page, but there are some pages with 2 photos (top/bottom half in landscape orientation), and some even 3 per page (top half one photo in landscape orientation, two photos in the bottom half in portrait orientation, or some other similar configuration). I have a photobook which I'm scanning where all the pages are A4 size (or near enough).
SATTVA DESCREEN MODS
Message the mods if you think you are getting blocked by the spam filter or have any questions, comments or suggestions. Photoshop CS2 is NOT (and has never been) free. And yes, it's cheaper than getting PS alone (long story, don't ask). The cheapest way to get Photoshop is with the Photography Plan, which includes Lightroom and costs about $10/month depending on where you are. NO PHOTOSHOP REQUESTS!!! in case you missed it the first time around.
